The Easter Mare Nostrum Cup Easter tournaments were introduced on Monday, April 1st at a press conference held at the Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou. The event has confirmed again that the commitment to convert the Costa Dorada into a sports tourism destination works since it has been announced that almost 10,000 people will stay overnight in the territory during the championships.

The press conference was attended by Albert Viñas, CEO of Mare Nostrum Cup and Sports Director of Futbol Salou; Sergi Novell, director of accommodation for the Blasi business group; Pere Granados, mayor of Salou; Jordi Cervera, Councilor for Sports of the City Council of Reus; and Eduard Farriol, president of the Business Federation of Tourism of Tarragona. All have highlighted the importance for the territory of receiving this quality tourism linked to sports.

The Mare Nostrum Cup Easter tournaments have become a benchmark in Catalan-based sports and are held every year in Salou and other towns on the Costa Dorada during the Easter holidays. The three competitions, which are MNC Football, MNC Basket - City of Reus and MNC Futsal, have beaten their participation records for the new edition 2019, with a total of almost 600 teams, surpassing by 494, the previous best record that was registerd in the last edition in 2018.

The XIX MNC Football has 300 football teams, which will compete between April 18 and 21. The main venue is Futbol Salou, but there are a total of 28 fields in the province.

Before the IX MNC Basketball - City of Reus with 220 teams and 19 categories; 28 simultaneous matches will be played for a total of 469 and the Costa Dorada will be the capital of basketball at Easter.

The MNC Futsal tournament is played between May 3 and 5. Last year this competition was released with 40 clubs and 2019 there will be 70, also taking advantage of the fact that the number of categories has been extended.

MNC in Asia and America

Albert Viñas has taken advantage of the presentation of the Easter tournaments to make official that the company will organize a new tournament in the United States: the MNC Denver, which will be held at the end of July. Viñas did not want to advance more details about the event, but he did confirm two important clubs for the II Mediterranean Champion China, the other international Mare Nostrum Cup tournament: Lille and Chelsea will play in Kunming this summer.
